Los Angeles, Calif - A Saturday night in East Los Angeles featured some of the most talented receivers in all of JC Football. JCSpotlight features some of the top players from Saturday as Pierce visited East Los Angeles College.
Saturday night's game between LA Pierce and East LA College featured nearly 900 yards of total offense. Much of the damage was done through the air as both teams featured several receivers that could find themselves playing on the next level in the coming years.
Maybe the most impressive player on both teams was ELAC receiver
Anthony Denham
, who posted seven catches for over 200 yards and three touchdowns, narrowly missing a fourth by inches. Listed at 6-6 and 215 pounds, Denham is a fluid in his routes and has pillow soft hands.
Playing Mr. Inside to Denham's Mr. Outside is bruising running back
Aubrey Haynes
(6-0/255). Haynes has remarkably nimble feet for a player of his size, and he's capable, as one might expect, of lowering the boom on smaller defenders should he not find an opening.
Pierce featured a pair of big play receivers in speedster
Coleman Edmond
and outside threat
Damon Julian
. Edmond also made his mark on special teams with a punt return for a touchdown (how it wasn't called an illegal touch, I don't know) as well as big returns on kickoffs.
Julian is a bigger receiver that elevates in traffic and can adjust to the ball while he's airborne.
On the defensive side of things, Pierce defensive end
David Mahoney
was effective in his limited action. He was in on several plays before heading to the sidelines with what looked like a thumb injury. ELAC defensive end
Lavelle Lincome
gave the Pierce offensive line fits all night and should be heavily recruited next year.
Here is a look at some of the top players in action from Saturday night.*
