Future Pack Spotlight: WR Drew Celis

Future Pack Spotlight: WR Drew Celis

Andrew Celis, a highly recruited receiver out of Marin Catholic High School chose Nevada because he loves how Brian Polian is running the program.

"I went with my gut and I'm loving the decision I made," Celis said. "I like how he's (Polian) so dedicated and committed even though it is his first year and he really wants to transform the program."

Celis is looking to make an impact right away on offense and believes his skillset will allow him to succeed in the Pistol.

"I think I will fit perfectly to be honest," said a chuckling Celis. "I kind of ran the same offensive scheme in high school."

Composure and mental toughness is what Celis believes to be his best characteristics on the football field.

Celis has been preparing for the collegiate level by competing against other people in specific workouts because he believes that will prepare him for the next level.

I've been building my speed by running hills, I go after school to run around the track, plyometric for footwork, box jumps," Celis said.  "I race other people because you don't get the full results for yourself if you're not in competition."

According to Celis, Nevada's coaching staff is very similar to his high school because both look for character, hard work, dedication and commitment. Celis would like to study in a field that would keep him close to football if anything would to happen in the future.

"I kind of want to go into physical sciences, recreational therapy, sports medicine because I love helping people," Celis said.

Aside from loving to help people, Celis says he emulates Ray Lewis because he's very passionate about football just as he is.

He also believes he can contribute as a true freshman and will have a chance to compete for playing time according to the coaching staff.

"I'm really excited to be a part of Nevada and go Pack," Celis said.
