Future Pack Spotlight: LB Jacob Lacaden

Future Pack Spotlight: LB Jacob Lacaden

Jacob Lacaden has been a solid linebacker thus far in his young career and should be a nice addition to Nevada's defense.

"I'm a run stopping force, I'm great in open field tackling, I'm a sure tackler and I just like to come down and hit," said a confident Lacaden.

What Lacaden loved most about Nevada is the family atmosphere and support from the community.

"The coaches create the bond with the players and even the community over there is so supportive, it reeled me in," Lacaden said. "Coming from Hawaii, that's a big part that plays over here, community and family and I witnessed all of that when I took my official visit."

Lacaden expressed his appreciation towards coach Nick Rolovich because he took the time to visit and spend time with Lacaden's family. Lacaden had this to say about coach Rolovich, "He's the man in Hawaii."

Lacaden is very excited to play the strong side linebacker in the Tampa 2 because it fits his skill set, covering slot receivers and providing support in the run game.

In terms of comparing his coaching staff in high school to Nevada's, the terminology and philosophy are different, which is something that he is looking forward to.

The 210-pound linebacker is training very hard to prepare his body for the next level.

Aside from football, Lacaden is really happy with his 2014 class because of the bond they have created at such an early stage.

"It's crazy because even though we are all from different places, we are already forming a bond through twitter," Lacaden said.  "And every day when someone makes a commitment, we're all here and boom goes the dynamite for coach Polian. We all talk about it and welcome in that guy because that's our new brother for the next four to five years."

This is the message Lacaden has for the student body and Wolf Pack fans:

"I'm honored and grateful to play for this school and be part of their history," Lacaden said. "Thank you for welcoming me in and stay battle born and we're going to make it to the top."
